Gatha Hill Berry, 92 - Walton

Gatha Hill Berry, 92, of Walton, WV, died Thursday, October 9, 2003, in the Westwood Medical Center, Bluefield, VA.

She was born March 12, 1911, at Boyd, WV, a daughter of the late Theodore Wallace and Emily Virginia Anderson Hill. She retired as a schoolteacher from Roane and Kanawha Counties in WV. She was a Baptist and had attended the Walton Union Church, Walton.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn M. Scott of Bluefield and Marjorie Haymaker of East Bank; five grandchildren, Brian Haymaker of Chico, CA, Melanie Haymaker of Hansford; "Bud" Meyer of Chatham, VA, Eric Meyer of Lawrence, KS, Beth Meyer of Bluefield; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo "Bud" Berry; two brothers, Charles and Dennis Hill; five sisters, Maysel Tolley, Docie Whited, Myrtle Harper, Lucy Hunt, and Ora Hannaman; and an infant granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held Monday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Walton Union Church, Walton, with the Rev. Jerry Board officiating. Burial will be in the Droddy-Canterbury Cemetery, Walton.

Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV, from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
