OLD HOTEL WENT ON THE BLOCK - Furnishings Sold At Auction

(10/01/2003)

David Barr, one of many bidders at yesterdays auction

Lots of folks came to bid on the contents of the Grantsville Hotel and Restaurant yesterday morning. Restaurant and kitchen equipment and all the furnishings of the hotel rooms went to the highest bidder.

Bids on the hotel property were rejected, apparently too low, and the building now stands empty waiting for a buyer.

The sale was promoted by two separate banks, one that financed the real estate and the other financing the contents of the restaurant.

The Grantsville landmark, originally known as the Jeffery's Hotel, has been long-time fixture. This closure may well be an end to the location's use as a commercial venture.
