A Mt. Zion resident Shawn Rush remains in critical condition at 10 p.m. last night following a 4-wheeler accident on Beech Road Sunday evening, according to Charleston Area Medical Center.

"He is in critical condition at Charleston General Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit," according to a hospital spokesperson.

Rush is reportedly suffering from head trauma and other complications.

Rush was injured at 4 p.m. Sunday on the rural road, about four miles from U. S. 33-119, Liberty Hill.

Calhoun EMS and the Arnoldsburg VFD quickly responded to the accident, but Rush was placed in a private vehicle and taken to Roane General Hospital suffering from multiple trauma.

He was transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center by chopper.

Emergency services continued a busy streak which started Friday - with accidents, fires other incidents.

Two Arnoldsburg area men were seriously injured at 11:45 a.m. Monday, when their 1994 Dodge Dakota truck went over an embankment on Euclid-Nicut Road.

Injured were Larry Lane, the driver, in his 60's, and Robert Lane, 51. Calhoun EMS took both victims to Roane General Hospital.

An auto driven by Cicely Ullum of Grantsville spun out of control on rain-slick Hog Knob Hill this morning at 8:35 a.m. Ullum's vehicle was traveling east on State Route 5, where it appeared to have struck rocks along the highway and rolled-over.

The Grantsville VFD responded at 9:07 a.m. to a barn fire on the Joe Cain farm at Big Bend, where hay apparently heated to combustion. Cain said his Quonset structure was heavily damaged. He said they managed to get his tractor out of the building.

Firemen remained on the scene until noon, attempting to pull the hay from the building and put out the slowly burning fire.

A truck slipped over the road bank on Sinking Springs at 11:52 a.m. causing damage to the vehicle. At least one of the occupants was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center for evaluation by Calhoun EMS. The occupants were identified as Marge Bevins and Tony Griggs.

Bevins told authorities she was trying to move over to make way for an oncoming vehicle on the rural road, about two miles from State Route 16, when the vehicle slipped off the road.
