CALHOUN STUDENTS SHOULD START SCHOLARSHIPS EARLY

(09/13/2003)
On September 25th, Martha Dean will be at the Calhoun County Middle/High School to discuss the McKelvey Scholarship and to help students apply on-line during their AA time at 11:45.

Parents are invited to attend. Students need to bring last year's 1040 tax papers to estimate the FAFSA form, said counselor Deb Cunningham. Students can apply on-line at www.mckelveyfoundation.org

Seniors with a 3.0 GPA and core average and a 21 on the ACT may begin applying for the Promise Scholarship on-line at www.WVAPPLY.com on October 31,2003, according to Cunningham.

She said it is important to begin the process early.

She says students must complete the FAFSA.

January 31, 2004 is the deadline for the Promise Scholarship.

January 6th, 2004 is Financial Aid Night with Karen Lay from Glenville State College. Lay will help you complete the FAFSA form, said Cunningham.

Students should bring last year's tax papers if this year's are not completed, she said.

"They can be estimated and the figures changed later as needed."
