FORMER ROANE WOMAN DIES AT 110 - Vonney French Looney

A former Roane County woman has died at 110-years-old in The Plains, Ohio.

Vonnie French Looney was born May 4, 1893, in Looneyville, Roane County, a daughter of the late Jonathan D. and Fannie Reynolds McGlothlin. She was married to Asbury Looney who preceded her in death in 1932. She was a homemaker most of her life except during World War II when she worked in Akron, Ohio, assembling airplane parts for the military.

She is survived by her four children, Jack Looney of Spencer, Daniel Looney of Newton, W.Va., and Edith Bullard and Fannie Mills, both of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jackie Looney; and one grandson, Roger D. Sellers II.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Zachary Drennen officiating. Burial will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from noon-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
