FLASH FLOODING HITS ARNOLDSBURG ROAD - Spencer to Calhoun Line

(09/04/2003)
Flash flooding struck areas along U. S. 33-119 (Arnoldsburg Road) from the Calhoun-Roane line to Spencer late Wednesday night.

Water had the main highway blocked in several places shortly after midnight Thursday morning.

A severe thunderstorm swept through the area, causing flooding in several houses and covering parked vehicles.

Firemen reported a leaking holding tank near the Roane-Calhoun line.

Flooding was reported on Slate Run, Bogg's Fork and Laurel Run (Rt. 33-119).

The Spencer Volunteer Fire Department was answering numerous 911 calls for assistance.

Water was falling as rapidly as it came up.
