The "Price" was right. So was the Metz and the Davis and the Laughlin and the Houchin … as a matter of fact Calhoun clicked on all cylinders en route to a lopsided 30-0 season-opening victory over Gilmer Friday night.

Junior Justin Price scored twice and rushed for 146 yards on 13 carries to lead the Red Devils. The junior running back scored on a 54-yard pass from Zach Houchin while adding another touchdown on a three-yard run.

Houchin, who was two-for-four passing, also hit Shawn Laughlin with a 60-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Calhoun scored on a 13-yard run by senior running back Eric Metz. Metz unofficially had 144 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Calhoun's other touchdown was scored on a three-yard-run by Marcus Davis, who moved from the line to the backfield in a short-yardage situation near the Gilmer goal line situation in the second quarter.

Statistically Calhoun had its way with the Titans. Calhoun had 449 yards total offense with 335 yards rushing and 114 passing while holding Gilmer to 120 yards total offense.

Jacob Lilly led the way for Gilmer County with 54 yards rushing on 27 carries.

The only negatives for the Red Devils were five missed extra point attempts and a plethora of penalties. Overall Calhoun was whistled for 17 penalties and 147 yards.

Calhoun County is now 1-0 while Gilmer is 0-1. Calhoun will be home to Ritchie County in a 7:30 p.m. game Friday night while Gilmer County is on the road at Pocahontas.

All Calhoun games are broadcast on WVRC-FM (104.7) on a tape-delay basis.
