STUTLER RELEASED ON $100,000 BOND - Hearing Set For Next Week

(08/21/2003)
A Calhoun man charged with attempted 1st degree murder and malicious wounding Tuesday has been released from Central Regional Jail. A bonding company posted $100,000 for Creston resident Harold Stutler, 66, yesterday afternoon.

Stutler was charged in the shotgun wounding of Richard Starcher of Little Creek.

Stutler has returned to his family on Little Creek, within a few hundred feet of the victim's residence.

The bonding requires clear stipulations regarding Stutler's behavior.

Stutler turned himself in to Sheriff Allen Parsons Tuesday afternoon, after an ambush-style shooting Monday night in a remote area southeast of Creston.

Starcher received injuries after three or four shotgun blasts struck his pick-up truck. Stutler fired upon Starcher after lying in wait along a rural road.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week.
