WILLIAM "BILL" CRISS - Vienna, formerly Calhoun

William O. "Bill" Criss, 92, of Vienna died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.

He was born Oct. 18, 1911, in Big Bend, Calhoun County, a son of the late Samuel Mack and Bertha Nelson Criss. Mr. Criss was retired from DuPont, Washington Works carpentry department. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the Pacific and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews and special friends, Mark and Jenny McClung and family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Sylvia Phillips Criss in 1999; four brothers; and seven sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. A. Lindsay Thorp officiating. Interment will follow in Big Bend Cemetery, Calhoun County. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
