JACK'S DOUGH - Twists And Turns, Two People Arrested

(08/08/2003)
Poor rich Jack Whittaker and his millions.

The latest twist and turns.

After being robbed of $500,000 at a St. Alban's strip club and later finding the money behind a dumpster....the story goes on.

Now, it turns out the manager of a Cross Lanes strip club and his girlfriend have been accused of stealing more the half million from the world's greatest Powerball winner.

Twenty-three-year-old Jeffrey Caplinger, 23, of Nitro and his live-in girlfriend, Misty Arnold, 24, have been charged with second-degree robbery.

Chief Deputy Phil Morris says at some point late Monday or early Tuesday, Arnold accompanied Whittaker to his vehicle and watched him get some money from a briefcase.

Arnold allegedly went back into the Pink Pony gentleman's club and told her boyfriend something like "He has too much money, let's take it."

The police officer says Caplinger and Arnold drugged the Scott Depot millionaire with an unidentified substance.

Caplinger then allegedly went outside and busted a window in Whittaker's sport-utility vehicle, took the briefcase and hid it.

Police believe Caplinger broke out a window in his own car and took some compact disks and a CD player as a cover up.

Caplinger and Arnold face five to 18 years for the crime.

Jack says he still has a good attitude, although he did threaten to buy the strip joint.
