One suspect is still at large following an alleged barroom beating that preceded a Reedy man's death last week.

Police have been unable to locate John Franklin "Frankie" Greathouse, 39, of Spencer, who is wanted on a charge of malicious wounding.

Persons who may know the whereabouts of Greathouse are asked to contact State Police (927-0950) or other authorities.

Virgil Alvin "Hippie Al" Thompson, 45, of Spencer was arrested earlier, also on a charge of malicious wounding. He was released after posting $10,000 bond.

Police believe the two men were involved in a fight with Nathan Murray, 20, of Crane's Nest Run at the Borderline bar around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 19.

State Police investigating the incident say Murray was struck with a baseball bat and a pool cue in the fracas at the bar, located on U.S. 33 just west of the Spencer city limits.

Murray was treated and released at Roane General Hospital following the incident. Police said his injuries included contusions and lacerations to the head, face and nasal passages as well as to his back and legs.

Murray was at the home of a friend on Allentown Road early Sunday when he collapsed. He was taken by ambulance to Roane General, where he was pronounced dead.
