(07/28/2003)
A 48-year-old Grannyshee woman was bitten on the hand by a copperhead Saturday night. Calhoun EMS took the woman to Roane General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of a motorcycle was injured just south of Walker Road on State Route 16 near Chloe, shortly after noon Sunday. Firemen said the cyclist hit some loose rock, near the same spot a logging truck wrecked a few weeks ago.

"He was riding with a group of motorcyclists," according to fireman Sonny Lowers of the Upper West Fork VFD.

He was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment of injuries by Calhoun EMS.
