Bank robbers took an estimated $250,000 from the Traders Bank in Ripley yesterday and tried to escape on I-77 west into Washington County, Ohio. Carlos Santos, 44, of Cleveland and Ervin Roddy, 51, of Sissonville were arrested after they crashed their get-a-way vehicle and bailed out into the woods not far from Marietta.

The bank was robbed shortly before noon, with the two men leaving in a car. A few minutes later a Fairplain resident called 911 saying two men were hurriedly changing vehicles in a suspicious matter. Police were then alerted and the chase began.

Santos and Roddy crashed into a least a dozen vehicles during their escape attempt on I-77. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
