Minney was honored by his co-workers and Justice Starcher at a reception, following the ceremony.

He was appointed Prosecuting Attorney for Calhoun County this week by the county commission, filling the un-expired term of Tony Morgan.

Minney is a native of Shock, Gilmer Country, and is currently employed by the West Virginia Supreme Court in Charleston, and was previously a law clerk with the 14th Judicial Circuit.

He is a member of the West Virginia Bar, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Minney graduated first in his class at Glenville State College in 1996 with a degree in education, receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence at West Virginia University in 2001, near the top of his class.

Earlier he was a substitute teacher in Gilmer and Calhoun County.

Minney said he is looking forward to becoming Calhoun's prosecutor. He will assume his duties on August 1st.

Minney says one of his hobbies is amateur radio, and has written articles published in QST, 73 and Worldradio magazines.

Longtime prosecutor Tony Morgan says he intends to devote his attention to his law practice in Grantsville.

An appreciation dinner will be given Morgan on July 29th between 11:30 and 1 p.m. at the Courthouse, recognizing him for his many years of service to the county.
