WELCOME BACK - "Bringing Jessi Home"

(07/22/2003)

Yellow ribbons are everywhere

National newscasters report live from Elizabeth Monday evening

Media tents are busy

Pvt. Jessica Lynch comes home today to Wirt country where the people will care about her long after the furor fades away.

A Wirt County resident said yesterday it might be nicer if this was just a local event, without all the media. "After all, that's what it's all about, bringing Jessi home."

Dozens of satellite trucks and hundreds of media reps began to filter into Elizabeth these past two days. Some news anchors did their evening news from the front of the Wirt County Courthouse last night.

Some are calling it the "Lynch Mob," referring to it as a media-government event.

Today, thousands are expected to line the streets of Elizabeth and along Route 14 toward Palestine, the route to her home.

The weather is iffy, but even showers and storms are not expected to keep the crowd away.

Anyway, welcome home Jessi.
