The big Creston summer ATV Poker Run is scheduled for Saturday, July 26. All roads lead to Creston and when one gets on the route one will find some roads that most folks didn't know existed. All four wheeler fans are urged to come and have a good ride. For details contact Donna Sue at 275-3202.

Because of the Wirt County Fair the August Creston Sing has been cancelled. Music lovers should go to the fair and have a good time there.

Local residents have been involved in the big preparation for Wirt County heroine Jessica Lynch's return. Advance men have been in the area for quite some time and many anticipate the arrival of high level government officials. While it was probably intended that the advance team be low key, they turned out to be very, very obvious - sorta like the clean cut undercover police with white socks trying to "blend in" with the fellows they wanted to "bust". Local activities have been directed by folks from the governor's office. It was noted that, for the first time since the Civil War, snipers will be in and around Elizabeth.

The paving job on W. Va. 5 is almost completed. New guard rail has yet to be installed but the road rides nice now.

Carl Ferrell is nursing an injured elbow. He and Donna were calling on Albert "Bub" and Christy Ferrell and family on the occasion of Christy's birthday.

Area residents have been busy canning green beans. Lots of fresh garden goodies are now available that make for fine eating.

Jerry Snyder was doing some work at his place on Creston Heights.

The Trooperette was busy handing out "invitations" in the Burning Springs area on Sunday.

Gerald Woodring was calling on Mr. & Mrs. Eddie Norman. Gerald, Eddie and Rod Lynch were checking out the condition of roads on the Creston ATV poker run route.

Jim Thompson was calling on Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dobbins and fetched down Ivory, a new canine addition to the family. Jack & Mary Ann played music at Little Creek, Saturday evening. Mary Ann has been busy setting up a web site to sell the famous fishing lures that Jack makes. They are hoping to expand the business.

Some local folks attended the Wood County (Interstate) Fair. Because of some sort of disease like shipping fever, the equine events were cancelled.

Hallie Cunningham fell and broke two bones in her wrist.

The home health nurse from the Coordinating Council for Independent Living was attending to business in Creston one day last week.

Local residents were attending to business in Parkersburg and at the Mouth of the Elk River.

Some local folks thought that they could finally get their hay up but another rain came "and rinsed off the dust". Bad storms hit elsewhere.

Jerry Crank was spending some time at his trailer on the West Fork.

Nancy Engelke has been on the sick list.

Donna Sue Ferrell has been having automotive difficulties again.
