 Margie Evans and Bob Weaver, head Democratic Executive Committee Margie Evans of Arnoldsburg will remain Chairperson of the Democratic Party in Calhoun. Evans was reelected at a meeting of the Calhoun Democratic Executive Committee yesterday. Bob Weaver of Mt. Zion was re-elected vice-chair of the party. Evans said "We are going to return to the basic message of what the Democratic Party has been about." She said the party has a long history of standing up for the working people of America, and social and economic justice. "We ask all voters who believe the Democratic Platform to join with us is an effort to elect a Democratic president next year," she said. "We need precinct captains and people who will help with a campaign." "It would be wonderful if younger Democrats would help the party," said Evans. "Please contact us. Marty Parks of Orma was re-elected secretary-treasurer of the group. Melissa Hixon of Big Bend was recently elected as a new member of the committee. The committee is working on some fundraisers for this fall.
