Carl G. McCartney, 93, of Parkersburg passed away July 15, 2003, at Marietta Nursing Center.

He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Cary and Lotie Whipkey McCartney. He was a member of the Lauckport Baptist Church and of the Local Labor Union 1085.

Surviving are four daughters, Pauline Denhart of West Springfield, Pa., Nancy Chocky and Ruby Scarberry, both of Rosemont, W.Va., and Shirley Sinnett of Coolville; one stepdaughter, Lucille Pomusky of Avon, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Goldie Campbell, Ruby Grogan and Freda Keeper, all of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen McCartney; his second wife, Jackie McCartney; his third wife, Nellie McCartney; his fourth wife, Virginia McCartney; three sons, Harry, Carl and Norval McCartney; four sisters, Mary Dunlap, Monie Queen, Monnie Cottrill and Millie Battin; and two brothers, Jake and Judd McCartney.

The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, Fifth Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery on Lost Pavement Road. Friends may call form 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
