VICTORY BAPTIST CHURCH TO HAVE PATRIOTIC SUNDAY - Col. Larry Godfrey Guest Speaker

Victory Baptist Church will be having a Patriotic Sunday Service in honor of all veterans on Sunday, July 20th, 2003. The service will be held during the Morning Worship service at 11 a.m. Special guest will be Col. Larry Godfrey, United States Army Medical Corps, Airborne - Special Forces. Col. Godfrey is the son of Donald and Eveylyn Godfrey of Grantsville. He graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1967, and has since served in the Army for 32 years. He has served in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Haiti, Somalia, and most recently Kuwait. Col. Godfrey is now stationed in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where he teaches in the War College.

Col. Godfrey has four children, Philip, a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, stationed in Guam; and Melany, Matthew and Sydney who reside in Florida.

Col. Godfrey's brother, 1st Class Sgt. Rodney Godfrey serves in the National Guard and is stationed in Wilmington, Delaware.

Dr. John Powell will be preaching for this special Sunday, and veterans Walter Truss and Edward Eisley will be providing special music.

There will be a dinner immediately following the 11 a.m. service.

Pastor Mike Worf, invites the community to come out to celebrate and honor the veterans who have served our country well.
