SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION HAS NEW QUARTERS - "No More Possums"

(07/11/2003)
After leaky roofs, sagging floors, drafty rooms and failed plumbing, Calhoun School's central office has new quarters. The school administration has moved to the Mt. Zion campus, behind Calhoun Middle/High School. The new quarters are part of a building constructed for the new school bus garage.

Connie Roberts

Financial officer Connie Roberts said "We tried not to complain about the old grade school buildings in Grantsville, but it was hard the day the possum fell through the rotten roof into the office." The critter scurried away and hid, she said, "But you could smell it out."

Ron Blankenship

The two level facility has offices for administrators, in addition to a comfortable lobby, board meeting room and lounge. "It will really help our staff to work better," said Superintendent Ron Blankenship, indicating things often did not work well in the old building.

Jean Simers

"We haven't had time to get everything put away," said Jean Simers.

Greg Cartwright

Curriculum Director Greg Cartwright was working hard at a computer, the building is wired for technology.
