LIGHTNING STRIKES 911 CENTER - Computer And TV Equipment Destroyed

Calhoun's 911 Center has been struck by lightning again. One of the main locator computers was knocked out, according to dispatcher Joe Tanner."We switched to other back-up equipment," he said. Two TV sets were also destroyed, one in the 911 center and another used by Calhoun EMS. The center had to replace a computer after a power surge during last winter's ice storm. The center has been struck by lightning several times, damaging equipment, although numerous efforts have been made to improve protection.
