ROSCOE SIMONS - Jodie WV, formerly of Calhoun

Roscoe Simons, 78, of Jodie, Fayette County, died June 23, 2003, at home after an extended illness.

He was born in 1924 in Calhoun County, son of the late Fred and Edith Cottrell Simons.

He was a former owner of the Rovis Trucking Company at Jodie, retired service station operator at Beech Glen, founder and former fire chief of the Gauley River VFD and owner of the Broken "S" Farm at Jodie.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Brannon Simons.

He is survived by daughters, Sharlet Hastings of Jodie and Darlene Morris of Maysel; son, Travis Simons of Jodie; sister, Ruby Brannon of Spencer and brother, Cam Simons of Silverton.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26 at 11 a.m. at the Pennington Funeral Chapel in Gauley Bridge by the Rev. Rick White. Burial will be in Clover Cemetery.

Visitation 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

After the graveside services, family and friends will meet at the home of Darlene Morris at Maysel for lunch and fellowship.
