Dreu Ferguson, Jr., 27, of Spencer, was to go on trial today in Roane County Circuit Court, charged in the murder of his
infant sons death, but that case will be continued, according to the Circuit Clerk.
Ferguson has also been charged with a second murder of William Freas, 29, of Spencer. Ferguson is said to have shot Freas
on his front porch on June 11 after an argument.
Ferguson's preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 15 in Roane County Magistrate Court, when a magistrate will
determine if there is probable cause to bind the case over to Roane County Circuit Court.
A hearing is also scheduled today on a continuance request and a motion by Ferguson's attorney seeking a competency
examination.
Ferguson is being held in Central Regional Jail without bond.
