THREE INJURED IN LEAFBANK COLLISION - Leafbank And Rt. 5

UPDATE NOON SATURDAY - A Ford Explorer and a Ford pick-up truck crashed on Route 5 just west of Grantsville before noon Saturday, send three to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

A driver and passenger were in the pick-up truck and a driver in the Ford Explorer. The steering wheel was driven into the driver's space of the truck, injuring the driver. He was extracted from the wreck by rescue workers.

The nature of the injuries are unknown.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the front-end, the truck's engine being driven toward the passenger compartment. The accident happened at he intersection of Leafbank Road and Route 5, one-half mile from Grantsville. Traffic was backed-up for about one hour.

Two ambulances from Calhoun EMS responded and units from the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Sheriff Allen Parsons is investigating.

One of the wrecked vehicles caught on fire after being towed to Furr's Wrecking, and the Grantsville VFD was summoned at 12:47 p.m. to put it out.
