A COUNTY A DAY - Wirt Officials And Citizens To Participate At Legislature

(03/15/2001)
Robert Lowe Wirt County Commissioner

Wirt County elected officials would like to invite the citizens of Wirt County to participate in "A-COUNTY-A-DAY" program at the legislature.

April 11, 2001 is our designated day at the capitol. We will meet at the capitol rotunda between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The Senate and House usually goes into session at 11:00 a.m. By arriving early, this will give us time to visit with our representatives.

On Thursday February 22, a delegation of county officials, school personnel and private citizens met with Governor Bob Wise to inform him of our situation. The governor was very understanding of our needs and is presently putting together a team to assess the situation. However; as of March 14, we have not received any answers or solutions to the financial problems that face the county.

We encourage everyone to attend Wirt County Day at the legislature. Your presence in Charleston will call attention to the counties concerns. Letters to your representatives will also help.
