Auto lands in Stinson creek bed

Strikes end of guardrail, flips in creek

A car struck the end of a guardrail and flipped into a deep stream bed, landing on its top, early Tuesday morning on Route 16 at the mouth of Stinson Creek.

The highway was wet after an early morning drizzle.

The guardrail was bent forward by the impact and heavily damaged.

The 1995 Pontiac owned by Roscoe Rogers of Chloe appeared to be a total loss. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were not transported by Calhoun EMS.

EMS and the Upper West Fork VFD responded to the call at 4:30 a.m. near Stinson Grocery.

Deputy Sheriff Carl Ballengee also responded.
