Several hundred county students come forward for honors

County County Schools held their 20th Academic Awards Program last night at Calhoun Middle/ High School and numerous county students from all grades were recognized for their acheivements.

In addition to Calhoun Superintendent Ron Blankenship and principals Mike Offutt and Larry Stinn, Betty Westfall, Pam Bartlett and Tammey Webb assisted with the ceremony.

While some of the students received scholarships last night, they will be announced during the 79th Commencement tonight at 7 p.m., where 88 seniors will receive their diplomas.

Principal Mike Offutt said this years seniors will receive more than one million dollars in scholarships.

The Calhoun High School graduation draws one of the biggest crowds each year. At last account, it will be held in the gym.
