A JOYFUL "CELEBRATION" - Follies 2003 Was Great Entertainment

(05/19/2003)

It was a high energy celebration

Jaime McKown and Brian Morgan introduced the acts

It was the second year for the resurrection of "The Follies," an entertainment celebration brought to the community by the young and the older at Calhoun Middle/High School this past weekend.

This year's theme was "Celebration," and quite a celebration it was, with lots of energy and excitement.

Follies 2003 had two Masters of Ceremonies, Brian Morgan and Jaime McKown, who introduced over twenty five acts, all bringing cheers from the audiences during the three-day run.

The kids were outstanding, dancin' and singin' old and newer tunes, with laughable moments of comic relief. The adult Calhoun Choral Reflections, a group brought together last year, was tuned and professional.

It was director and musician Harry Beall who found himself excited again about the event, enjoying the hard work of his cast, associates and supporters. "We want to thank them all," he said.

"The Follies" was a long-standing tradition at Calhoun High, with a few years of absence. Beall says, with community support, "We hope to keep it going for years to come."

The Vandalias performed

Those performing this year included Vicki Lamont, Chasity Jones, Susan Sullivan, the Vandalias, Heather Weaver, Jake Krack, the CHS band, Kaitlin Weaver, Rock Steady, Kara Haymaker, the Buttercups, Calhoun Choral Reflections, Sarah Lynch, the Showgirls, Nikki Church, Brian Morgan, and the Reflections Barbershop Quartet.

Among others bringing their talent to the event, Faye Chambers, choir director; Casey Harris, dance choreographer; Jo Moellendick, art director; Zach Bailey, sound director; Derek Roberts, lighting director; Trina Beall, administrative director, Zach Moore, spotlights; Jacob Richards, video taping; Susan Sullivan, choir coordinator; Holly Burch, David Dodd, Amber Goodrich, Tiffani Tanner and Katie Walker, scenery.

A special thank you was given to Friends of the Follies and the advertisers for the event.

EDITOR'S NOTE: It was one of those unexplained camera problem days as we photographed this years Follies, unfortunately we obtained only a few useable pictures.
