VICTIMS OF MT. ZION ACCIDENT ARE RECOVERING - Barbara Cain Remains In Hospital

(05/15/2003)
The victims of last Friday's two vehicle collision on the Mt. Zion ridge are recovering, according to family members.

The crash sent five people to the hospital after EMS and fire department personnel extracted them from their vehicles.

Barbara Cain of Big Bend continues to be treated at Cabel-Huntington Hospital, after suffering two broken femurs. A family spokesperson indicated she was to undergo surgery on a severely broken ankle today, saying "She is making progress, but will have to be off her feet for a good while."

Cain was the driver of a van in which her daughter Shaina was a passenger. Shaina was treated and released after the accident with a fractured collarbone.

The daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shock have been released from Charleston General Hospital, after suffering multiple injuries. A family spokesperson said Tabatha, 16, and Natasha, 14, are "getting along well."

The driver of the other vehicle, Brittney Prim, 16, was released the day after the accident with a fractured leg and other injuries.
