TWO CALHOUN PEOPLE DEAD FROM GUNSHOTS - Victims Discovered On "Little Bear Fork" Along U. S. 33-119

4 AM UPDATE -Two people were shot to death in Calhoun County early Thursday in a residence along U. S. 33-119 on "Little Bear Fork." The house is located between Sand Ridge and the Calhoun-Gilmer line.

An unidentified juvenile is reportedly in custody for questioning, but it is unknown if he is connected with the shootings.

The victims of the shooting, a man and a woman, were in a dwelling near Twins Drilling, near the foot of Sand Ridge Hill.

The victims names are reported to be Ward Groves, in his late 60's, and Mary Hicks, his ex-wife.

Neighbors said 16-year-old Ronnie Rush was staying at the house.

The West Virginia State Police mobile crime unit arrived on the scene about 6 a.m.

Calhoun coroner Neil Stump was called to the scene.

Calhoun 911 received a call regarding the incident about 1:20 a.m. and State Police and the Calhoun Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.

Groves had been a resident of the Lockney-Stumptown area for several years, and had recently purchased property in Calhoun.

The bodies will be taken to the State Medical Examiner's office in Charleston.
