(05/02/2003)
A Spencer man was seriously injured Tuesday evening when he was thrown from his antique car on U. S. 33 west of town. Dick Reed, 51, a car salesman for Denbigh-Garrett Ford, was life-flighted to Charleston Area Medical Center.

Reed reportedly suffered "very serious injuries" to his face, neck, shoulder and arm.

His antique roadster, which had no roof, went out of control and both Reed and his passenger John Griffin, 19, of Spencer, were thrown from the vehicle. The auto reportedly rolled over on Reed. Griffin was released from the hospital.
