DON BAILEY - Parkersburg, formerly of Calhoun

Don Bailey, 80, of Parkersburg passed away April 26, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Beech, Calhoun County, a son of the late Paris and Lelia Gae Starcher Bailey. He retired from Union Carbide Company after more than 23 years of service. As an enthusiastic C.B. radio operator, he was well known by his handle, "Millstone." He was a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Long Bailey of Parkersburg; two sons, Michael D. Bailey and his wife Cheryl of Parkersburg and D. Mark Bailey and his wife Shelli of Bluffton, S.C.; one daughter, Barbara Gillespie and her husband Max of Mineral Wells; six grandchildren, Brian Bailey and his wife Kim of Raleigh, N.C., Brent Bailey of Parkersburg, Lori Gillespie Corbin and her husband Chris of Parkersburg, Kelli Gillespie Gribble and her husband Michael of Parkersburg, Saray Bailey Mueller of Parkersburg and Rashel Bailey of Bluffton, S.C.

Also two great-grandchildren, Madison Gribble and Logan Bailey, both of Parkersburg; one sister, Wilma Johnston of Mineral Wells; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ocie Bailey; a sister, Denna Lott; and two brothers, Claude and Hubert Bailey.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, the Rev. Joe Bush officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
