There were 100 riders for the Creston Community Building ATV poker run. The trip went up Ann's Run and out the ridge and down Beaver Dam and out Fairview and Davidson Ridges, down Bear Run, out Monroe Ridge and back to Creston. Almost everyone got to see new country on the 31 mile run. Some riders, when they got to the stop at the Hill Grove church asked, "What county are we in?" We would like to send out a special thanks to all that came and rode and all that helped, laying out the route, putting up and taking down the signs, manning the checkpoints, working the kitchen, filling out the forms, making the forms. Riders came from Fairmont and Barberton Ohio and points in between. The next ride is scheduled for late July.

The regular monthly meeting of the Creston Community Building is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, starting at 6 P. M. In addition to regular business which will include electing trustees, etc. there will be a special program by the Red Cross for running red cross shelters. In the event of an emergency, with trained volunteers, the community building can be a shelter. One never knows what the future will bring. Everyone is invited.

While the war seems to have would down a bit it was good to know that "W" thought like many local folks about "Baghdad Bob", Saddam's PR man. Perhaps the folks down at the Mouth of Elk River could hire him to sell the wonders of the state Workmen's Comp program which just took a 15% hike. He could explain why "it is good" that W. Va.'s premium rate is so many times higher than in surrounding states. He could make Calhoun and Wirt Counties seem to have 1% unemployment. One thing for sure, if SARS continues, lots of folks will be staying close to home locally.
