RITCHIE'S DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR RESIGNS - Future Of Authority Uncertain

(04/25/2003)
The executive director of the Ritchie County Economic Development Authority has suddenly resigned. Eldolia Weir submitted a two sentence letter of resignation to Floyd Hodge, President of the development group.

Weir, who had the position for a few months, is said to have resigned because she felt a lack of support from the board and problems with inadequate office space.

She had maintained offices in the Gen. Thomas Harris museum in Harrisville. Hodge said she had no privacy since the office room was shared by the Chamber of Commerce, EDA and the Ritchie County Community Foundation.

Weir had been the executive director of a Huntsville, Alabama and Pittsburgh development group.

The future of the Ritchie development authority was unclear.
