Calhoun SCAT/RAZE members attended a TATU (Teens Against Tobacco Use) training with Roane County students recently.

TATU is a state approved tobacco prevention education program for teens to help teach fourth and fifth graders tobacco prevention.

The training was conducted by Gus Nelson, RESA V Tobacco Prevention Specialist. The teens learned the dangers of tobacco use and the chemicals in tobacco. They were taught how to do school presentations to younger students and were given specific tools. They were divided into teams and each team completed a demonstration and presentation.

They also had fun with team building activities.

Adult chaperones were Janet Hastewell, Dewayne Freeland, Gus Nelson and Carlene Frederick.
