CARS COLLIDE AT BIG BEND - Car Strikes Pole On Phillip's Run

(04/13/2003)

Two people were taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center last night following a two-car collision on Rt. 5, Big Bend at Holbert's Store. Sources at the scene indicated they were not seriously injured, the air-bags expelling in their vehicle.

The 8:15 p.m. accident happened after one vehicle was attempting to turn into Holbert's parking lot. A driver and several passengers in that vehicle did not appear to be in injured.

Calhoun EMS responded to the accident with the Grantsville VFD. Sheriff Allen Parsons was investigating.

Another man was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center in a separate accident about 3:30 p.m. Saturday. His vehicle bounced off a utility pole on Phillip's Run. The same pole was downed a few days ago, injuring Mt. Zion resident Hubert Kerby. Kerby is recovering from a fractured leg.

Calhoun EMS and the Grantsville VFD responded to the Rt. 16 accident just south of Grantsville.
