2025: CHURCH AND FAMILY REUNIONS VANISHING - Cedar Grove Homecoming |
| (08/11/2025) |
| Bob Weaver 2025 I was wondering how many family and church homecomings have faded into history, from the time I was a kid in the 40s and 50s. I did a little research and came up with at least 70 annual events in this small county. I relived the experience yesterday by attending the Cedar Grove Church Homecoming along the waters of the lower West Fork, below Cremo, having been to it for at least 25 years. The old reunion was re-invented by returnee Boyd Duskey. It was an invigorating experience, once again visiting the people of place, talking and sharing a meal. Our conversation turned to those no longer present, the passing parade of stalwart men and women who have passed. Last week, the Whytsell Reunion was not held for the first time in at least 60 years. It has been a blessing to rub elbows with those who still return. |
