Rural Calhoun WV just went through a winter with nary a measurable snow, with the weather around the world spiraling chaotically.

In less than a century, oldtimers can remember when in snowed in October and never left the ground until April, rivers freezing 12"-18" deep.

West Virginia's disbeliefs about climate change/global warming have long been driven by King Coal, most of the state's multi-millionaire governors tied to the coal industry.

Calhoun County in the survey was 39th among WV's 55 counties worried about climate change (55 being the least worried).

51% agreed that global warming in affecting the weather in the US, while only 32% believe it is affecting them personally.

Calhoun has a population of 5,900.

The county-by-county study was done of Yale University in 2022, and discovered rather wide variances in neighboring counties, likely attributed in Calhoun to Alvin Engelke's local newspaper column the Creston News. He has proclaimed climate change/global warming a "hoax" for over 25 years.

While science and politicians have long been at odds, the divisions continue to deepen.

The world's most illustrious scientist, the late Dr. Stephen Hawking, a believer in Climate Change and its affect on the human race, issued a final warning about the destruction brought by Artificial Intelligence.

The money and its power will likely win, with corrective insight on such problems being afterthoughts.
