What's left of the Calhoun Super Service in Grantsville is being razed, a demolition project that began a few years ago, a structure that once covered a city block.

The initial Calhoun Super Service project was launched in 1935, and was primarily a car dealership and auto repair shop, then developed into an appliance and furniture store.

Add-ons were used by Thompson Drug Store and the Boling-Artz Medical Clinic.

Over the years it has been used by an auto parts store, beauty parlor, tobacco and variety store.

Owner Steve Satterfield has not announced intentions for its use.
