The incident apparently happened about 3 a.m. at the corner of Russell and Main streets.

According to troopers, inmate Anthony Richard Jones, 35, of Clarksburg, was injured and died during two incidents that involved multiple inmates. The death is being investigated as a murder.

There’s also a malicious wounding investigation underway after a second inmate identified as William Adams III, 50, of Ritchie County, was seriously injured in the same incident. He’s currently hospitalized.
