TUESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - Calhoun Cases Continue To Spike

According to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), there are currently 8,535 active COVID-19 cases statewide.

11 more deaths have also been reported since Monday, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in West Virginia to 4,145.

746 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in West Virginia. 218 of them are in the ICU, and 136 of them are on ventilators.

96 kids at East Fairmont Middle School were told to quarantine due to a possible COVID-19 exposures, all are from a fifth-grade class, with quarantine rules differing from county to county.

The Marion County superintendent’s office was told that there were seven positive cases in the grade. Superintendent Donna Hage said there were potentials for exposure during lunch when kids had their masks off to eat and drink.
