Joseph Walton Allen, 71, of Sand Fork

Joseph Walton Allen, 71, of Sand Fork WV departed this earthly life in the evening hours of Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston WV, following an extended illness.

He was born June 20, 1950 in Paul's Valley OK, son of the late David P. Jr. and Barbara Moore Allen.

Joseph is a graduate of Lindsey High School in Oklahoma, class of 1968. He retired from Equistar Chemical (LyondellBasell) as a Senior Lab Technician. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting guns, painting, riding horses, camping, reading, rock climbing, watching westerns on TV, John Wayne movies, country western dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

On December 27, 1994 Joseph was united in marriage to Kathy Johnson Allen, who survives at their Sand Fork home.

Surviving are 3 children, Christopher Allen and Fiancée Melinda of Houston TX, Joseph Allen of Pasadena TX, and Shannon Cook of Oklahoma, a step-daughter, Rebecca Mitchell and husband Todd of Denton TX; and 2 siblings, Dr. Mary Sue Kendrick and husband Mike of Oklahoma, and Chester Lynn Thompson also of Oklahoma.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Seth, Madison and Mason Allen, and Owen and Adelyn Mitchell and a host of other wonderful family and friends.

Along with his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by 3 siblings, Anthony Thompson, Dawn Henson, and Roddy Beth Thompson.

Joseph's request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of life will be conducted in Oklahoma at a later date.
