Erlinda Balancio Corpuz Ambrosio, M.D., 78, of Spencer

Erlinda Balancio Corpuz Ambrosio, M.D., 78, of Spencer WV, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2021 at home.

She was born in the Philippines on March 1, 1943, a daughter of the late Ricardo and Petra Balancio Corpuz.

After moving to the United States, she completed her residency training in New York City in the Bronx.

She and her husband, Pedro, moved to Spencer in 1971 and retired here in 2004. She practiced medicine, alongside her husband, for more than 36 years. She was the former Medical Director of Roane General Hospital and former Emergency Room Director.

In recognition of Drs. Pedro and Erlinda Ambrosio, the walking path at Roane General Hospital and the Roane General Medical Clinic, have been named after them for their dedication and commitment to the community.

She was a founding member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Spencer. She was a member of the Parish and Finance Councils, Emergency Care Committee, Women’s Club and Choir. She also had a love for bowling. She was a member of the Bowling Club since 1971, a member of the Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday Bowling Leagues. She was also a member of the WV Bowling Hall of Fame.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Pedro N. Ambrosio, M.D. whom she married on January 6, 1968; daughters, Cecilia Ambrosio (Christian) Allen of Alexandria, Virginia and Ruth E. Ambrosio (Steve) Schick of Burke, Virginia; grandchildren, Jackson Allen, Lucas Allen and Evan Schick; brothers and sisters, Dante Corpuz (Melitona), Norma Rabara (Monico), David Corpuz, Simon Corpuz (Fe) and Lita Corpuz; sister-in-law, Adoracion Rilveria; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, Rudy Corpuz, Ricardo Corpuz Jr., Edwin Corpuz and Mauricio Corpuz.

An 11 a.m. funeral mass will be held at the Divine Mercy Shrine on Monday, October 11 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Spencer, with Father Ron Prechtl officiating. Burial will be at the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

The visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 10 in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.
