SPRING FLING FEATURES STUDENT WORK - Community Contributes To CGCC Open House

Putting the cane to a chair Al's Barn bunch presents mountain music Visitors from Calhoun and Gilmer County came to "Spring Fling" yesterday, an open house at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center. There were displays and demonstrations by local craftsmen. including some of the vocational labs. Featured was quilting, foundation piecing, blacksmithing, chair caning, basketry, beadwork, carving, and pen and ink drawing. Lots of food items were available, including homemade Easter candies, baked goods, strawberry shortcake and beans and cornbread. Live music was performed by Friend's of Al's Barn throughout the morning in the school's commons area. Band members include Al Hogan, Fred Dawson, Bruce Jones, Charles Jones, Johnny Jones, and Gloria Jones. The afternoon highlight was a performance by the "Mountain Women."
