Travis James Smith, 43, of Newton

Travis James Smith, 43, of Newton WV, died Sunday, August 29, 2021 at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston.

He was born June 24, 1978 in Spencer, the son of James Everett and Debra Kay Lyons Smith of Newton.

Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Lyons; paternal grandparents, Charles and Justine Smith.

He was a supervisor for Triton Construction, Inc. of St. Albans WV; a member of Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local #1353, Charleston and WV State Employees Bass Club of Charleston.

Travis was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, survivors include the love of his life, Amanda Johnson; his children, Ryan Smith of Newton and Brenlee McKown at home; brothers, Thomas Smith of Gandeeville WV, and Jason Smith of Big Otter WV; maternal grandmother, Hallie Lyons of Big Otter WV.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 2 at the Lyons Family Cemetery, Ivydale WV, with Pastor Philip Linger officiating.

The visitation will be one hour before the service at the cemetery.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, of Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
