He was born August 2, 1953, in Roane County, the son of the late Clyde and Freda Ashby Carpenter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Carpenter.

Ronnie was a former rig hand in the oil fields.

Survivors include four children, Ronnie Greathouse, Jeff Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter and Christie Carpenter; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carolyn Carpenter, Randle Carpenter, Barbara (Ronnie) Cross and Johnnie Carpenter.

A private family service is being planned for a later date.
