THURSDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - WV HAS 5,000 ACTIVE CASES - 505 New Cases

Active COVID-19 cases in West Virginia now top 5,000 in new numbers released Thursday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources.

The confirmation of 505 new COVID cases during the last 24 hours put overall cases at 5,076 which is the highest number of active cases for the first time since May 26.

Hospitalizations grew to 289 in Thursday’s report. The last time there were that many patients was during the last week of February. There are 106 of those patients in ICU.

The DHHR reports there are now 299 Delta variant cases in West Virginia in approximately three dozen counties, likely under reported.
