WEDNESDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 196 NEW CASES

Three COVID-19 deaths were reported Wednesday morning in West Virginia in the latest update from health officials.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported 196 new coronavirus cases. Active cases were at 1,758.

The latest deaths bring the pandemic death toll to 2,939.

Hospitalizations increased from 111 on Tuesday to 127 Wednesday. There were 53 COVID patients in intensive care and 20 on ventilators.

The state’s cumulative positive test rate went from 4.94% Tuesday to 4.93% Wednesday. The daily positive test rate decreased from 6.17% to 4.93% over the past 24 hours.

COVID-19 recoveries were at 161,796 in the latest update.

As of Wednesday morning, there were 43 confirmed cases of the Delta variant in the state.
