THURSDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 126 New Cases (35 Delta Variant), 13 Backlogged Deaths, Cases Rising Across USA

West Virginia health officials on Thursday reported 14 coronavirus deaths and 126 new virus cases since the last update.

The Delta variant cases in W.Va. climb to 35 in today's report.

COVID-19 cases are now continuing to climb in US, mostly with the the Delta variant, and the use of a vaccine has hit a brick wall with political and conspiracy theories.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release that 13 of the 14 deaths reported in Thursday’s dashboard report are a result of the Bureau for Public Health’s continuing data reconciliation with the official death certificate.

West Virginia’s death total from the pandemic has now risen to 2,934.

Active cases were up 38 and were at 1,225. The cumulative positive test rate remained unchanged and was 4.94%, while the daily positive test rate dropped from 3.26% to 2.61%.

Hospitalizations were at 89, up one, with 38 in intensive care and 17 on a ventilator. Recoveries were listed at 160,674.
