HUR HERALDS TALES OF BEAR FORK: CLEORA LAWSON NEWELL SPRUNG FROM BEAR FORK WILDERNESS - She Has Died At 95

Cleora (Lawson) Newell, 95, a lifelong resident of Orma WV, has died. She was born on Spruce in the edge of the Bear Fork Wildreness, off of Frozen Run, December 30, 1925, the daughter of the late John W. and Zanna (Tucker) Lawson. Her grandfather, Sam Lawson, was an early comer to Bear Fork, and wrote about his life. Buried in the Lawson Family Cemetery in Bear Fork is a marked grave of an old American Indian who declined to flee west, the "last standing injun" in the county. Her husband of 59 years, Jerald Newell, Jr., of the prolific Newell family, preceded her in death.
